WHAT IS DIATOMACEOUS EARTH?
Grandpa’s Diatomaceous Earth is fossilized Diatoms, a type of microscopic algae. Diatoms live for about a week before settling on the lake bed, where they become a siliceous sedimentary rock. It’s appearance is pure white and very fine, almost powdery but when touched it is very drying. Some DE has a darker coloring but not Grandpa’s Diatomaceous Earth it’s always brilliantly white.
Freshwater food grade Diatomaceous Earth is all natural and contains NO pesticides or Chemicals. People are using DE to do more and more everyday as an alternative to using manufactured chemicals.
Why is Diatomaceous Earth so Important?
Grandpa’s Diatomaceous Earth is 100% fresh water food grade and is very effective as an anti-caking agent. The diatoms which make up DE have been known to absorb water. This effect makes Grandpa’s Diatomaceous Earth effective at stopping feed to cake up. Many insects have been known to avoid dry areas created by the moisture absorbing effects of using DE. Our product contians no insecticides.
Some animal feed contains wet additives such as molasses that cause the particles to become “sticky”. It forms clumps that not only make the feed hard to pour but is also a breeding ground for mold and bacteria. Grandpa’s Diatomaceous Earth when mixed into the feed, may coat each particle making feed easier to pour and absorbs moisture working as an anti-caking agent. Feed may remain fresher longer; meaning more value from each dollar spent on your favorite feed.
Not All Diatomaceous Earth is The Same

Its shape and hardness are important to how it works. Its hardness keeps it from dissolving in liquid. The holes along the Diatom’s wall allow it to absorb moisture, hence its use as an anti-caking agent and mechanical pest deterrent. Lower quality Diatomaceous Earth often contains unnecessarily high amounts of iron or clay. Lower quality DE can be identified by its dark color. How is the difference of human pet and garden DE
Isn’t it ok to jes give food grade to everything ?
All I can say is Grandpa’s Diatomaceous earth is 100 % freshwater Food grade, it is good for everything.
There are Many Uses of Diatomaceous Earth by people everywhere.
Some have used DE as a TEETH CLEANER:
Sprinkle a small amount on your favorite brand of toothpaste and brush as you normally would. You will notice that your teeth look and feel clean like you just went to the dentist.
Others have used it against HOUSEHOLD PESTS:
DE can be used in and around the home, yard, animal housing, etc. DE will not harm earthworms or beneficial soil micro-organisms. DE is a natural alternative to chemicals.
Some use it to soothe the pain of INSECT BITES:
DE is great for ant bites, mosquito bites, bee stings and other bug bites. Make a paste with DE and water, and apply to the bite. Leave it on as long as you like. If the bites start to bother you just reapply.
It may help absorb REFRIGERATOR/FREEZER ODORS:
DE can be used in the same way as baking soda to banish odors. Leave an open box or jar of DE in the REFRIGERATOR and FREEZER. Replace it with fresh DE every week or two.
I’ve used it as a FACE MASK AND CLEANSER:
Mix DE and water together into a paste and apply to the face with a gentle circular scrubbing motion until fully covered. Leave on for about 10 minutes then wash off with warm water. Your face will be fully exfoliated and toned for pennies! Mix DE with your favorite cleanser and you will have cleaner and smoother skin.
My son puts DE in his shoes to fight FOOT ODOR:
For fresh smelling footwear, place DE into the ends of two knee high stockings and tie a knot at the top. Place the stockings inside shoes or boots. Leave until you’re ready to use the shoes again.
CARPET STAINS:
To remove carpet stains, cover the stain with DE and lightly work into stain. Let sit for at least 2 hours then vacuum.
METAL CLEANER:
Make a paste with DE and water for a metal polish. DE also makes a very inexpensive soft scrub for the shower, sink and faucets.
HEALTH:
Some people say they start with just a tablespoon in juice daily! Mix DE with your favorite liquid, stir occasionally and drink. It’s that easy. No unpleasant taste, in fact DE has NO taste, so enjoy. Best to keep in closed containers.
WILL DE INTERFERE WITH ANY MEDICATIONS?
DE is a mineral – silica. We have never run into a situation with the thousands of orders sold where anyone has had a problem or reaction to taking DE. If you have any questions as to interactions with medications you are taking ask you doctor or pharmacist if taking a silica supplement will cause any problems.
DOES DE EVER GET OLD OR EXPIRE?
NO. DE is a mineral and will never expire. Remember, it is already thousands of years old!
IF THIS STUFF IS SO GREAT, WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE?
It is always “all about the money”. No one is going to spend millions of dollars and years of research on a product that you dig out of the ground that cannot be patented. DE is one of the hundreds of natural products that get shunned by most doctors and drugs companies. Most DE is sold and used by someone who has a friend or relative that has used it and gotten results. You would think that it would be just the opposite – that a natural, safe, non-chemical and drug free product that is inexpensive and has so many uses it would be in every home in the country, but chemicals and drugs are where the big money is, so that is what gets promoted and used.

I just used DE to clean some copper and chrome items. Both items appeared beyond hope of cleaning thoroughly. I applied DE in a paste to the items and waited 10 mins. I wiped the paste away using a damp towel and rinsed off. INCREDIBLE!
